Our Story: How Brodali Was Born (with Love, Thread, and a Bit of Magic)

May 13, 2025

In 2014, while I was on maternity leave with my first daughter, Alice (the ali of Brodali), something quietly powerful began to stir. I had just moved to the beautiful Outaouais region of Québec, and as I settled into motherhood and this new chapter of my life, I felt a familiar spark—one I had grown up with. You see, my parents were entrepreneurs, and the idea of building something of my own had always been nestled in the back of my mind.

Late one evening, in between naps and snuggles with Alice, I stumbled upon something online that caught my eye: embroidery machines. I had embroidered by hand when I was a young teen, and the idea that a machine could bring those delicate stitches to life fascinated me.

It didn’t take long before I ordered my very first machine and started stitching little bibs with names and sweet messages. That machine didn’t last long—it broke down after just a few projects—but it was just the beginning. I upgraded to a six-needle machine we lovingly named Xena, and she quickly became my sidekick.

While exploring products to embroider, we discovered a line of soft, cuddly teddy bears that could be easily unstuffed for embroidery. We decided to place a tiny order to try them out. I created one with Alice’s birth stats and brought it to a small local mom-and-pop event. The response was overwhelming—people loved it.

And just like that, Brodali was born.

From that very first teddy bear, we’ve grown steadily. Today, Brodali has seven machines working full-time and a small but mighty team of two—myself and one full-time employee. Every single item is designed, stitched, and shipped from here in Canada, with care and love.

What started as a spark during a quiet season of motherhood has now become a business that helps others celebrate life’s most meaningful moments—from the first breath to the first cuddle and beyond.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Whether you’ve just found us or you’ve been here since the beginning, we’re so grateful to have you along for the ride.

With warmth and thread,
Nancy, Founder of Brodali
